8th Annual State Bar of Michigan Business Law Symposium

Thursday, February 12, 2026, 4:30 – 8:30 p.m.

The Gem Theatre, Downtown Detroit

Since its inception, Mark and his firm have been instrumental in organizing and producing the State Bar of Michigan’s Annual Symposium on Business Law, in conjunction with the Wayne State University Law School and its Journal of Business Law. Over the years, the Symposium has grown to include dozens of the top practitioners and academics in the field of business law.

The material and presentations from the Symposium provide outstanding resources for business owners and their lawyers alike, including presentations on negotiation, corporate governance, discovery, expert witnesses, damages theory, and pre-suit investigation and due diligence, all of which can be unearthed in the Symposia Archives.

The 8th Annual State Bar of Michigan Business Law Symposium, “The Business of the Lawsuit,” will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at The Gem Theatre in Downtown Detroit, from 4:30 – 8:30 PM. The program will feature an incredibly strong slate of attorneys and entirely new formats to facilitate debate, conversation and interaction with the audience.

Presenters include Ret. Judge Victoria Roberts, Ret. Judge Gerald Rosen, Michael Molitor, E. Powell Miller, T. Maxwell Carey, Daniel Quick, I.W. Winsten, Ian Williamson, Pat Lannen, Mike Weaver, Paul Mersino, Chuck Bullock, James Allen, Sara MacWilliams, Ben Aloia, Joe Duffy, Ryan Plecha, H. Joel Newman, Noah Mathews, Linda Oszust, and Mark Rossman.

The cost of the program is $135 for in person ticket, and $50 for a virtual ticket.

Doors open at 4:00pm

Note that the program will feature a 30 minute networking session from 4:30-5:00 PM.

“This is a real team effort at my firm and every lawyer commits a fair number of billable hours to the effort so that this symposium comes together and is executed the same way we engage in our trial work: efficient, purposeful, and captivating,” Rossman added.
