9th Annual State Bar of Michigan Business Law Symposium

–

Thursday, February 11, 2027
(at The Gem Theatre Detroit)

“The Anatomy of the Business Divorce”

The Annual State Bar of Michigan Business Law Section Symposium features unique presentations from top attorneys, judges, and practitioners in the field of business law. In keeping with the State Bar’s mission to “expand the resources of business lawyers by providing educational, networking and mentoring opportunities,” each Symposium includes interactive panels, speakers, and networking time for business litigation attorneys, businesses, and law firms from across Michigan.

Since its inception, Mark Rossman, and the attorneys at Rossman, P.C., have been instrumental in organizing and producing the State Bar of Michigan’s Annual Symposium on Business Law, in conjunction with the Wayne State University Law School Law Review. Over the years, the Symposium has grown to include dozens of the top practitioners and academics in the field of business law.

The material and presentations from the Symposium provide outstanding resources for business owners and their lawyers alike, including presentations on negotiation, corporate governance, discovery, expert witnesses, damages theory, and pre-suit investigation and due diligence, all of which can be unearthed in the Symposia Archives.

The 9th Annual Business Law Symposium, entitled the Anatomy of the Business Divorce will take place on Thursday, February 11, 2027 at the beautiful Gem Theatre, in downtown Detroit, where the Symposium has been in residency for the last three years. As the name implies, the focus of this year’s program is on the separation of business interests in the litigation context. Accordingly, the discussion will focus on various aspects of the “business divorce” and the litigation and trial thereof, including corporate and member oppression theory and practice; negotiation method and strategy; judicial perspective; juxtapositions between business and familial divorce; and other varied perspectives and insights from some of the best practitioners, judges and academics in the field.

Presenters include Professor Douglas Moll (Univ. of Houston Law Center), Sherri Bono (Bono Legal Group, LLP), Ivonne Soler (Butzel), Lisa Zelinski (GlassRatner), Jonathan Ajlouny (Honigman), Hon. Christopher Yates (Ven Johnson Law), Hon. Victoria Roberts (JAMS), Hon. Victoria Valentine (6th Circuit), Hon.
